REDDICK, FL (352today.com) – An interlocal agreement between the Town of Reddick and the Marion County Public School Board was approved unanimously, with a 5-0 vote, at the MCPS Board meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026, for the use of the basketball courts at Reddick-Collier Elementary School.

The agenda item was brought to the district by MCPS Chair Dr. Sarah James, and the district said they were fortunate that their team was able to work with the Town of Reddick to make this opportunity come to fruition, said Dr. Danielle Brewer, MCPS interim superintendent.

“This is an interlocal agreement between the school board and the Town of Reddick for the use of the basketball courts,” said Angela Usher, MCPS senior executive director of operations. “These are existing courts and the town will maintain it. They will improve it and conduct the safety inspections, while we will fence it to separate the campus from the basketball courts.”

The term of the agreement is for 10 years with two 10-year renewals, said Usher.

“This is a prime example of what can happen when our local municipalities are willing to work with us and have an open conversation,” said Rev. Eric Cummings, MCPS Board member District 3. “This is a good thing.”

Dr. Donald Manning principal at Reddick-Collier, reached out to MCPS chair Dr. Sarah James as he was reviewing the agenda prior to the meeting on Jan. 27, and shared how excited he was for his students to be able to have a safe and accessible place for them to play, said James.

“As the representative for District 5, I look forward to working with the town to find some ways creatively that we can fund revitalizing the basketball courts as well as the tennis courts in Reddick, so our students have opportunity for safe play when school is not in session,” said James.
