OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The pastry chef behind local business Bev’s Custom Bakery will be back on Food Network this November as a competitor on Season 5 of the seasonal baking competition show Holiday Wars.

Bev Hansen is a sugar artist based in Ocala, but she delivers her baked goods nationwide. Her bakery boasts over 215 flavors, both classic and unique. In addition to crafting custom wedding cakes and intricate sugar creations, Hansen also teaches baking classes and shares recipes online.

Hansen will compete on one of nine festive teams during this season of Holiday Wars. She’s part of the Caroling Queens. Ashley Marquez, the team’s cookie artist, called Hansen a “flavor master.”

“[Hansen] can do everything from fancy sugar pieces, chocolate, cookies, cake, and quite literally everything else!” said Marquez in an Instagram post.

Last October, Hansen also competed in Season 12 of Food Network’s Halloween Wars as part of Team Lollipop Lunatics. The team made it all the way to the final round and were runners-up.

Hansen’s edible artwork has also been featured in the American Cake Decorating magazine.

Hansen’s love for sugar art runs in the family: growing up in a military family, she helped out in her mother’s cakery from a young age. After attending law school, Hansen came back to the sweet life with a Baking & Pastry Arts degree and started Bev’s Custom Bakery.

Get in the holiday spirit and root for Ocala’s own Caroling Queen during the season premiere on Sunday, Nov. 5. Tune into Food Network at 9 p.m., or stream on Discovery Plus or Max.
