Murder suspect remains on the run in Marion Oaks shopping plaza shooting

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A murder suspect in a shooting outside a barber shop in a Marion Oaks Shopping Plaza remains on the run.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has been looking for is 33-year-old Melvin Arias in connection to January 12th shooting that left 47-year-old Milagros Guzman Lopez dead.

“Our detectives are still following up on tips and leads. We have shared the suspects information with all national and federal law enforcement,” said Lt. Paul Bloom.

Deputies say Arias arrived at the strip mall located at 168 Marion Oaks Blvd. and began to argue with Lopez in front of a barber shop. They say Arias then retrieved a gun from his vehicle and shot Lopez.

MCSO says deputies and detectives continue to search for Arias, who has a warrant for Lopez’s murder. They ask that anyone with information on where he is call 911 as they consider Arias “armed and dangerous.”
