MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Units with the Marion County Fire Rescue (MCFR) team helped an ailing construction worker who fell into an empty wastewater tank.

MCFR responded to the 911call at 11:43 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 27.

The caller told MCFR that a construction worker had fallen off a ladder at the new wastewater facility located in the 9000 block of SW 80th St. Rd. in Ocala.  According to the caller, the tank the man fell into was empty.

MCFR arrived at the scene around noon and say they found the worker in stable condition.  Paramedics were lowered into the empty tank to provide aid to the worker.  Firefighters up above prepared a stokes basket, also known as a rescue basket, to put the worker into.

The stokes basket was lowered via a tower from one of the firetrucks.  Paramedics strapped the worker into the stokes basket while firefighters hoisted him back up.

MCFR transported the worker to the hospital for further treatment.  No further information has been provided.
