MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County deputies stayed busy as multiple incidents across the county led to arrests and active investigations, ranging from theft to drug possession and outstanding warrants.

Deputy Hardy responded to the 3200 block of NE 14th Avenue for a trespassing call, but the situation escalated when he encountered a wanted subject. Eric Johnson was located at the scene and found to have an active Brevard County warrant. The warrant stemmed from a violation of community control tied to charges of escape, fleeing to elude and driving under the influence. Johnson was arrested without incident and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Corporal John Bloom also made an arrest while attempting to locate another wanted subject in the 5500 block of SE 34th Court. When Bloom arrived, he observed Roger Childers sitting in a truck smoking crack cocaine. Childers attempted to conceal drug paraphernalia when confronted, deputies said, but additional drugs were found in plain view on the truck’s center console. Childers was arrested and booked into jail.

A theft was reported at the Dollar General on SE Baseline Road, where deputies learned that William Fuller attempted to steal an electric bicycle. According to the report, Fuller tried to break the bike’s lock but was unsuccessful. Instead, deputies said, he took a thermos and knives from the bicycle’s basket. Fuller was quickly located down the road, where he admitted to the theft. He was arrested and taken to jail.

A separate investigation unfolded on the 3400 block of NW 16th Avenue, where Deputy Stephens responded to a reported vehicle burglary. The victim told deputies that someone entered his 2014 black Chevy Silverado, which was parked for sale. Once inside, the suspect took the license plate and the title to the truck. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, a high-value theft was reported in the 10300 block of NW Highway 320. Deputy Bradish met with a victim who said his 2022 Can-Am side-by-side utility vehicle had been stolen from a shed sometime between Aug. 14 and 17. The vehicle, valued at approximately $43,000, is still missing. Deputies confirmed the case remains open as the investigation continues.
