OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 76-year-old Marion County man was arrested after deputies say he pointed a handgun at his grandson and threatened to shoot him during a domestic dispute early Thursday morning.

According to the report, deputies responded to a residence around 12:16 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2026, in reference to a domestic disturbance. The victim told deputies he was outside the home attempting to contact his mother because he wanted to move out of the residence. While speaking with a neighbor who had walked by the property, the victim said his grandfather, identified as Matthew Blunt, became upset about the noise.

The victim told deputies Blunt exited a shed on the property and pointed a handgun at him and the neighbor. The victim said he heard the trigger being pulled, but the firearm did not discharge. The neighbor then left the area, and the victim contacted law enforcement. Deputies noted in the report that the victim declined to answer when asked whether he feared for his life.

Investigators later made contact with Blunt, who allegedly admitted he was angry about the noise. According to the report, Blunt told deputies he would have “shot the s— out of them” because the victim and neighbor were being loud but denied pointing a firearm at either person. The report states Blunt repeated the statement multiple times, including after being advised of his Miranda rights.

With Blunt’s consent, deputies searched the shed and located a Kel-Tec P3AT .380-caliber handgun in plain view on a couch. Investigators said the pistol contained a loaded magazine, though no round was chambered.

Blunt was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill, a felony domestic violence offense. He was transported to the Marion County Jail without incident.

Marion County Jail records show Blunt was later released June 20 on a $2,000 bond.
