LAKE COUNTY, FL  (352today.com)  – During Lake County Board of County Commissioners meeting Aug. 12, 2025, Kelley Klepper, Vice President at Kimley-Horn, presented the results of the County’s recent online growth survey. The survey, which received input from more than 1,500 residents, gathered public perspectives on growth, infrastructure, housing, transportation, and quality of life issues.

Klepper provided an overview of the survey’s key findings, highlighting areas where residents expressed both enthusiasm and concern. Among the top issues cited by respondents were traffic congestion, the pace of new development, and the preservation of open space. On the positive side, many residents expressed appreciation for the County’s natural beauty, recreational opportunities, and sense of community.

“The results offer a window into what matters most to our residents as we plan for Lake County’s future,” said Klepper. “Residents want to see smart, balanced growth that addresses infrastructure and housing needs without sacrificing what makes Lake County special.”

Klepper also discussed how the survey will help inform the County’s Comprehensive Plan update, which is currently underway. The update will guide decisions related to land use, transportation, environmental preservation, and community development over the coming decades.

“This survey isn’t just a data collection exercise,” said Klepper. “It’s a conversation starter, a way to make sure that future policies reflect the community’s values. Lake County’s leadership is taking a proactive approach to involve its residents, and that’s commendable.”

Lake County offers small-town character combined with the amenities of a major metropolitan city. It is centrally located in Florida and home to more than 420,000 people. The County has a total area of 1,157 square miles and features more than 1,000 lakes and rivers. To learn more, visit www.lakecountyfl.gov.
