GAINESVILLE, FL (352today) – The sounds of soccer, volleyball, basketball and pickleball games will soon be echoing through the air in southwest Gainesville.

The city’s Forest Park is about to reopen, and city leaders want you to come out and break-in the fields.

The City of Gainesville is inviting you to the reopening of Forest Park at a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Saturday, Sept. 23. The ceremony will be from 10 a.m. to noon. The address is 4501 SW 20th Ave.

The park has been closed for renovations since February. Some new additions to the park include new turf for all of the soccer fields, as well as a new soccer field. It also has two new sand volleyball courts and two basketball courts which can also serve as pickleball courts.

The renovations also included new amenities to the dog parks.

According to the City of Gainesville, improvements have also been made to the parking lots, pavilions and field drainage/irrigation.
