MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – As fall settles over Marion County, the area begins to offer spine-chilling attractions that offer plenty of ghostly encounters in historic settings and corn mazes where yellow delight turns to shucking of terror for family-friendly fun and fear-stricken delight. Local haunts have something for everyone to enter a world of fall-festivities.

1. Cavern of Cosmic Horrors

Homestead Haunt is hosting Cavern of Cosmic Horrors, a haunted house sure to leave guests screaming in thrill. At 9:30 p.m., “Insanity Mode” begins where all lights are turned off and guests must navigate only using headlamps and adrenaline. To avoid the extra challenge, guests are recommended to arrive at 8:30 p.m. to experience the house without Insanity Mode.

This event takes place every Friday and Saturday from 8 to 11 p.m. from Sept. 12 to Halloween night on Oct. 31 at Homestead Park, 1050 NE 6th Blvd., Williston, FL 32696. Tickets can be bought online or at the door for $25 with same-night re-entry at $5.

2. Kirby Farm Scary Train

Kirby Family Farm hosts annual Scary Train attraction where guests can take a spooky train ride through a haunted forest with monsters lurking nearby, visit various haunted houses themed around vampires and other horrifying creatures, get hunted through a maze of haunting hearses and watch thrilling and action-packed live shows. All proceeds go to supporting Kirby Family Farm educational organization and museum and its programs for at-risk and special needs children.

Every Friday and Saturday from Sept. 27 to Oct. 25 and Sunday Oct. 26. The event opens at 7 p.m. with attractions starting at 7:30 p.m. at Kirby Family Farm, 19650 Northeast 30th Street, Williston, FL 32696. Tickets include an advanced, all-inclusive combo pass for $23.60 and a gate pass for $25. Both passes include all 7 attractions, the ScaryTrain Ride, all haunted walks and extra entertainment.

3. A Nightmare on Pine Street

Wayne’s World is hosting A Nightmare on Pine Street, a five-acre run through grass terrain in woods to get away from zombies, killer clowns and other horror-themed icons. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Toys for Tots and Cathy’s Kids.

The event will take place on Fridays and Saturday from Oct. 10 to Oct. 25 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Wayne’s World of Paintball, 4841 S Pine Avenue, Ocala, FL. Admission is $15 for adults and $10 for children’s age of 12 and under with cash only.

4. HOPS Walking Ghost Tour

The Historic Ocala Preservation Society is hosting two ghost tours in the Historic District of Ocala, perfect for history buffs and ghost story enjoyers. Guests meet at a set location in Downtown Ocala and proceed to go on a walking tour, learning about the most haunted and thrilling locations in Ocala history.

This event takes place on Saturday, October 18 and 25 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Ocala Historic District. Tickets are $15 per guest. The tour is sold out this year, but this is a must-try tour for next year’s fall season.

5. Cedar Key Pirate Invasion

Join Cedar Key during their Pirate Fest for charity where they will have pirates along their shores with vendors, music, a costume contest, a golf cart parade, a surprise visit from the mayor and more with spooky themes in tow. They’ll be taking over the city park and local restaurants, firing canons and sending kids to hunt down infamous pirates for the Cedar Key Food Pantry Disaster Relief fund.

The event will be on Friday, Oct. 31 from noon to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Cedar Key City Park, 6027 A St, Cedar Key, FL. The pirate invasion is free to attend with donation options and vendors available.
