Elderly couple hit by car while crossing Silver Springs Boulevard in Ocala, man dies

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – The Ocala Police Department (OPD) says they’re investigating a deadly pedestrian accident.

Police say on Thursday, Jan. 25, around 6:40 p.m. they responded to the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and West Silver Springs Boulevard where two elderly pedestrians, a husband and wife in their 80s, were both hit by a car.

OPD says the 89-year-old man and 83-year-old woman were transported to the hospital. The man died at the hospital the next day. They say the woman remains in the hospital.

Police say a witness says the car was traveling westbound on Silver Springs Boulevard and had the green light as it approached the intersection. According to police, the witness stated the pedestrians were crossing the road against the do not walk signal. Police do not believe the driver was speeding and they don’t suspect any impairment.
