DUNNELLON, FL (352today.com) – A Dunnellon man faces a felony charge after Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies say he threatened to kill his father while holding a knife during an early morning domestic dispute.

Anthony Haig, 61, was arrested Sunday, June 7, 2026, and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.

Deputies responded to a residence in the Dunnellon district shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday in reference to a domestic disturbance. Before arriving at the home, deputies met with the alleged victim, identified as Theodore Haig, at Rainbow Springs Village Church on SW 102nd Street Rd.

According to the report, Theodore Haig told deputies he was attempting to sleep when his son began playing loud music in the middle of the night. After asking him to turn the music down, an argument broke out between the two. During the dispute, Anthony allegedly threatened to kill his father. Theodore told deputies he feared for his life and left the residence before contacting law enforcement.

Deputies also spoke with another family member, who reported hearing the argument from his bedroom. According to the report, the family member said he heard the defendant enter the kitchen and threaten to kill the victim.

A third witness, Judith Lopes-Haig, identified as the defendant’s mother and the victim’s wife, told deputies she saw Anthony grab a knife with a black handle from the kitchen while making the threats. She said Theodore then left the home out of fear.

When deputies made contact with Anthony, he was advised of his rights and admitted to threatening to kill his father. He told deputies he had been drinking alcohol and said he could not remember whether he was holding a knife at the time.

Deputies arrested Anthony and transported him to the Marion County Jail without incident.
