WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – Taking care of those who took care of us.
The City of Wildwood and You Thrive Senior Services, a community action agency in Brooksville, have put their collective resources together and are reaching out to seniors to provide them with a chance to enjoy a meal, to improve their quality of life by listening to a variety of guest speakers, and enjoy fellowship with their neighbors in an environment that’s conducive to fostering good will through engaging with one another.
The program will be offering weekly meals and recreational activities to Sumter County residents 60 and older, at two separate locations, at the Warfield Auditorium on Mondays and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center on Friday.
Starting on Sept. 5, at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, seniors will have an opportunity to enjoy food and fellowship through December. And on Mondays, those same opportunities will be available at the Warfield Auditorium continuing every Monday, with the exception of Oct. 20, through the end of the year.
Both sites will provide free lunch and breakfast, and in addition to the nutritious meals, there will be a chance to keep the mind and body healthy by participating in games like bingo and recreational activities such as exercising. All sessions begin at 8:30 a.m. and end at 12:30 p.m.
A variety of guest speakers will provide those who attend an opportunity to learn about retirement, financial planning and health as well as a number of other topics.
Those interested in the program can register in person on Aug. 20, 2025, from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center and from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Warfield Auditorium.
