OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A new tea house has taken over the historic Diamond Suites building at 917 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala. The 1890 Tea House merges elegant dining with the charm of rich bites and classic teas.

The 1890 Tea House offers outdoor seating with a large patio and a chained-off separation from the sidewalk. Tables feature white tablecloths and small fans in the shape of the Eiffel Tower with some tables shaded by black-and-white striped umbrellas. The outdoor seating provides a close look at the historic architecture of the tea house and a stunning fountain at the center of the patio with music to drown out traffic. Indoor seating is currently unavailable due to construction; however, they are making quick progress to open the indoor seating soon.

They offer traditional tea services featuring such teas as earl gray, darjeeling, green tea, chamomile, chia, jasmine, matcha, english breakfast and decaffeinated breakfast. For those who prefer coffee with their meal, the freshly brewed coffee consists of regular, espresso, cappuccino, latte, latte macchiato, cold brew and decaffeinated coffee. All coffee and tea can be made hot or iced with hot teas being brought out in decorated tea pots with teacups for an elegant experience. The tea house also features beer, wine and specialty drinks for more options. With the tea, guests can indulge in tea sandwiches and desserts with pre-order options.

The menu features a variety of options with generous portions for meals, charcuterie and deserts. Some of the favorites on the menu are the cucumber sando, smoked salmon toast, chive wrapped egg salad sando and strawberry sando handhelds as well as the strawberry lemon swirl tart, greek yogurt panna cotta and tiramisu truffle desserts. They also feature a build-your-own charcuterie board with board sizes for parties of one, two, three to four and five or more as well as a kid’s menu for young guests.

For a more intimate setting, the tea house offers private tea rooms for guests who want to experience quiet, cozy dining or for private celebrations and gatherings. Guests can enjoy a pot of tea, tea sandwiches, dessert platters or a full charcuterie board experience in the tearoom. Tea room walk-ins are first come, first served; however, reservations are recommended for larger parties. Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance with room capacities fitting 4-12 guests. Special requests and pre-orders are available for groups.

The relaxed and elegant atmosphere with traditional tea service and fine dining options makes 1890 Tea House a go-to spot for a historically enticing view with modern café-style charm. They are open Wednesday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information about the tea house, call 352-244-8368 or to check out the menu, visit their website here.
